Bangladesh US$75m The Sustainable Economic Recovery Program will assist the government in implementing urgent reforms to facilitate the country’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes reprioritizing and reallocating expenditures to create more fiscal space and providing micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises with access to finance.
Bosnia and Herzegovina ¤25m The Corridor Vc Motorway, Section Nemila-Donja Gračanica Project will improve travel connections for some 150,000 people in the city of Zenica, the country’s most important center for mining and steel production. LATIN AMERICA AND CARRIBEAN Colombia US$0.27m The Development of Rural Infrastructure Projects supports sustainable regional food production to improve the living conditions of 200,000 families in the departments of Cauca and Nariño (see story page 26). Dominican Republic US$60m The Program to Expand Electricity Networks and Reduce Technical Losses in Distribution Systems will support the government’s effort to reduce electricity
The Nyacyonga-Mukoto Road Project will upgrade a 36-km section that will improve connections for circa 2.8 million people engaged in economic activities that include agriculture, mining and tourism. Senegal US$30m The Louga-Keur Momar Sarr Road Project will help enhance socio- economic development and unlock the agricultural potential of communities in north-west Senegal through the upgrading of a 54-km road. The road will promote the regional exchange of goods with neighboring Mauritania, reduce travel time and costs and improve access to social services for around one million people. Uganda US$20m The loan will support the Uganda Heart Institute by co-financing construction works as well as the purchase of medical and non-medical equipment and furniture. The new hospital will be located in the capital Kampala and provide cardiovascular care to more than 60,000 patients per year.
China US$50m The Shijiazhuang Vocational Education Project aims at strengthening and expanding higher education in the Hebei province through the construction of the Shijiazhuang Railway Technology campus. Around 13,000 full-time students per year will benefit from the project, as well as around 20,000 skilled laborers and professionals seeking additional training. Turkmenistan US$45m The Marine Merchant Fleet Project will construct three new vessels for rail, passenger and dry cargo. Once operational the new ships will increase the utilization of the Turkmenbashi seaport on the Caspian Sea, part of the Europe-Caucasus-Asia trade route.
