J anuary 28 is special for everyone at the OPEC Fund, as it marks the day in 1976 when the “Agreement Establishing the OPEC Special Fund” was signed. It is also a special day for the partner countries of the OPEC Fund that work tirelessly with the institution to advance sustainable development. Another big step toward this goal was taken in 2025 when the OPEC Fund registered new record results with US$3.2 billion in new commitments, a

39 percent increase year-on-year and the highest business volume in the institution’s 50-year history. The milestone tops a period of strong growth with commitments rising from US$1.7 billion in 2023 to US$2.3 billion in 2024 and US$3.2 billion in 2025. Addressing high demand for development finance, the OPEC Fund has set a target of US$20 billion in new commitments for the period 2025-2030.
