President

Alkhalifa, a Saudi Arabian national, assumed his post in November 2018. His mandate was extended for a second five-year term in June 2023 by the Ministerial Council. Prior to joining the OPEC Fund, Dr. Alkhalifa held leader- ship positions at the World Bank Group and served the government of Saudi Arabia.

The President is the OPEC Fund’s Chief Executive Officer, elected by the member countries for a five-year term. He heads the OPEC Fund’s operations following the directions of the Governing Board and in accordance with the regulations stated in the Agreement Estab- lishing the OPEC Fund.
