“MSMEs are vital to the Dominican Repub- lic’s economy, employing over half of the workforce. However, they face significant challenges in accessing credit, which limits their growth. Meanwhile women-led MSMEs experience additional barriers such as lack of guarantees. Climate change further threatens development as the country is highly vulnerable to natural disasters that impact key sectors that drive economic growth like tourism and agriculture. Thus, green financing is crucial but constrained by limited long- term options - allowing for banks and organizations like ours to drive sustain- able investments and build capacity for green development.”
